Big news : Google had released the Android 2.2 update for the Nexus One. The mobile operating system that bore the name ‘Froyo’ (Frozen Yoghurt) for its 2.2 incarnation, would bring dozens of upgrades, but two in particular were interesting to me

• Faster, less processor usage, which translates in a longer lasting battery
• Adobe Flash 10.1

One big problem: my Nexus One is a European model. The US version is sold with system software version EPF27, the European one is known as EPF30. The Update by Google was only for Nexus One models with EPF27 installed. No luck for me as a European.

Blendernation has a video with Big Buck Bunny ‘Outtakes’ -- Bloopers. Quite hilarious, and much too short. This reminds me a bit of the Jacky Chan movies, where all the failed shots get added to the end. In some movies, that was the most entertaining part (sorry Jacky).

In een vorige post was ik spijtig dat het concert van Sweet Coffee was uitverkocht. Tegen beter weten in had ik me ingeschreven op de wachtlijst van het concert van Sweet Coffee, en je raadt het nooit: er kwamen tickets vrij! We zijn dus gisteren gaan meegenieten van de voorstelling van het nieuwe album ‘Face 2 Face’, samen met een goed gevulde zaal in de AB. (more…)

Le numéro decembre 2009 de 3DWorld contient un article interessant sur Blender 2.50. L’article décrit l’importance croissant du logiciel dans le monde graphique commercial. En plus, les changements qui seront introduits avec la nouvelle version 2.50 sont abordés, avec l’importance de ces changements pour les utilisateurs.

Malheureusement il n’y a pas de tutorial specifiquement pour Blender (Andy écrivait des articles et des tutorials dans les numéros précédents). Comme toujours dans 3DWorld, il y a beaucoup de techniques et de trucs qui ne sont pas dépendant d’une application spécifique.

Le CD contient une grande quantité de modèles de haute définition a utiliser sans limites.

Na de vorige films elke keer rond de kerstperiode te kunnen bekijken, besloot Warner Brothers deze keer om de film pas in juli in de zalen te brengen. Juli kruipt stilaan dichterbij, en ik weet dat Joke hier ferm naar aan het uitkijken is. Hieronder de internationale trailer van “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince”:

Op 1 juni 2008 stierf wereldberoemd mode-ontwerper Yves Saint Laurent in zijn huis in Parijs. Samen met zijn zaken- en levenspartner Pierre Bergé had Yves Saint Laurent tijdens zijn leven een vereniging opgezet om de historie te bewaren van het modebedrijf dat zijn naam droeg, “The Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent Foundation“. Naast het hoofddoel hield de foundation zich ook bezig met het organiseren van tentoonstellingen. Daartoe had het een mooie collectie uitgebouwd, die unaniem geprezen werd doordat het een veelzijdige collectie was, die er toch in slaagde van een zekere eenheid te behouden. Het was met andere woorden geen allegaartje van zoveel mogelijk samengeraapte kunstwerken, maar er zat samenhang in. Om die reden had Abu Dhabi naar verluidt een bod gedaan op de hele collectie, maar Pierre Bergé had dat afgewezen.

In de Vlaamse media was het redelijk uitgesmeerd (op z’n minst De Morgen en het Nieuwsblad vermeldden het) dat een gedeelte van de collectie zou worden verkocht. Volgens the Economist is het de bedoeling om de activiteiten van de foundation verder te blijven financieren met de opbrengst van de verkoop van de niet-YSL gerelateerde kunstwerken. Hetzelfde artikel in The Economist laat uitschijnen dat de verkoop één van de belangrijkste zou zijn in zijn genre. Hoewel de verkoop doorgaat in het Grand Palais in Parijs, de bakermat van het Yves Saint Laurent imperium, heeft Pierre Bergé een kunstgalerij in Brussel, op de Grote Zavel. Voor de verkoop werden de belangrijkste werken, een 60-tal, daar tentoongesteld, na New York en Londen. (more…)

I was looking at Vostro desktops this evening on the Dell site (I’m living in Belgium), and I had a look at the Vostro 410. The fact that it has Quad-core processor support in the series interested me. However, when I was trying to put a system together to have a look at the price, I had to look twice when I came at the choice of graphics card: Dell offers you standard the Radeon 3650 HD included in the price, with the Geforce 8800GT available for … €44.134. And the ATI Radeon 3450 HD (the slower version of the included 3650 HD) for ‘only’ €44.344.

I knew that graphics cards can sometimes cost more than an entire system, but this is a bit too much if you ask me
